Sidewalk Chalk x Lili K. – G.L.A.D.

“G.L.A.D.” is a dream collaboration by Lili K. and Sidewalk Chalk. The song premiered on Wall Street Journal yesterday and it’s a gift to my ears! “G.L.A.D.” is funky and rich, with bright horns, and speaks to good days and summertime. Lili K. has been making big moves, from her debut album Ruby, to a show stopping appearance on ABC’s Windy City Live and high profile work with Tidal, she’s really come into her own this year. You can catch her performing alongside Sir The Baptist at Schuba’s on Nov. 1. Sidewalk Chalk’s most recent release is their live album, Shoulder Season, they are currently touring, see their show out at Double Door on Nov. 6. Brighten up your day and listen to “G.L.A.D..”

JZFX – Forgot About Me

JZFX is a Chicago based producer, and overall really cool guy, meticulously incorporating old-school jazz melodies with modern electronic production. His debut album Forgot About Me is his full-length release to the world and a compilation full of tasteful instrumentals and glimpses of very promising potential. The full album is not available for stream on SoundCloud, but the title track is available above and it gives me visions of playing Mario Kart, specifically the Rainbow Road map (from 0:48 on). If you’re digging the sound, head over to J’s Bandcamp and show your support + stream the rest of Forgot About Me‘s 12 tracks – Don’t Go is a personal favorite.

Mick Jenkins – Jazz

I wonder when the concept for this video was thought of, because I would bet a bottle of water this is exactly what’s going on in Toledo right now. According to Mr. Jenkins, a lot of his upcoming mixtape will be centered around water and it’s necessity for life and how it relates to truth. This music video is no exception… peep it and keep a look out for Water[s] coming out on August 12th.
