Tree does it again, this time with his instrumentals that created the sound we know as SoulTrap. Tree teamed up with Ben Niespodziany of Mishka Records and photographer Andrew Zeiter captured striking images. The project is inspiring and Tree’s instrumentals paint vivid & dramatic pictures. The album opens with “Tree Medley (Intro)” and Tree speaks about when and why he got started producing. With the instrumentals that I know well through Tree’s various projects, I can still hear him rapping as I listen; on the others that I haven’t heard, it’s fun to imagine what Tree might say or to think about which rapper would kill the various beats. The project is 20 tracks in length but goes by really quickly, listen to them all. Tree has an original and unique voice as both rapper and producer, no one else would or could have created these sounds and they work brilliantly.
