I’m not going to sit here and pretend like I’ve been some huge, underground grime fan my whole life like half the hip-hop bloggers in the world right now. However, I do love a good grime track here and there. Though I’m not too versed in grime rap knowledge, I do know that Skepta is one of the best grime rappers the world has ever seen and “Shutdown” is good proof of that. A lot of the rap world has their eyes on the grime scene right now in special thanks to Kanye West and his DONDA collective after bringing Skepta out on stage during his very famed “All Day” performance on the BRIT Awards last week. It would be super cool to see a huge grime revolution begin in the States, however, let that not be an open invitation to start rapping like these grime dudes. Let the Brit’s have their shine, glory boyz.
