The only thing to fear is me
New generation fly our flag for all to see
Got no apologies – Tom
“West Covina” is the second release from Chicago based hip hop duo Sherpa, comprised of talented emcee, producer and 1833 writer x-ray (aka Alexy) and producer, engineer and emcee Tom Fertsch. “West Covina” takes us to the Pacific Coast and is a nod to Tom’s San Diego home, this is his first release rapping and it’ll be a pleasure to watch him develop. Sherpa are DIY kings, they produce and record all their own music. This beat has some real beauty to it with the Cali inspired guitar base. Tom leads off with the first verse, it quickly becomes clear why these two united to form this musical entity, their voices are a cohesive, seamless blend. X-ray’s writing skills glo in the second verse. The song focuses on the typical events of any given day but goes deeper with reflection and considers the many hidden intricacies within each and every little thing that we do. This is a beautiful follow up to their debut single, “Maturation.” Proud reps of Kronos and Fixed Fidelity, allow Sherpa to take you to “West Covina.”
I keep looking at myself in the mirror
Fear of seeing you, fear of being you
Why’s life beating you?
Wise man blood bleeds in you
We can bleed as two – x-ray
