Crush Effect is an electronic music duo hailing from the West Coast that has some serious funk to it (one of the members is a sax player). They’ve been hard at work touring and collaborating with other artists so this is their first Soundcloud drop in almost 9 months; the wait was well worth it as they remixed Odesza’s “White Lies“, beautifully I should add, starting by chopping up Jenni Potts original vocals and building up the intro with some snazzy synth lines until some funky drums that sound like they could be a breakbeat come in and really get the song riding. The energy is really bursting and what really makes the song preferable to me is that although Crush Effect is an electronic duo this song does not mask up all of the retro-funk influences that give it a sort of nostalgic, disco, classique feel to it, if anything it embraces and homages those influences well.
