On Tuesday, Rich Gang, collectively young Atlanta rappers Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan accompanied by veteran Birdman, released their debut mixtape entitled “Rich Gang: Tha Tour Pt. 1”. Previously, Thugger and Quan have released several songs together including one of the summer’s catchiest bangers “Lifestyle” as well as “Pull Up” which dropped earlier this month. The tape has a couple songs reminiscent of “Lifestyle” and “Imma Ride” is not one of them. A typically screechy Thug chorus ties together solid verses by all three members, including probably Birdman’s best verse on the entire project (he’s seen better days.)
“Imma Ride” hones the sound of my favorite corner of the new hip-hop coming out of Atlanta beautifully, boastful and arrogant with a low swinging beat I can feel at all hours of the day. You can catch me rolling in a yung Uber, screaming out the window “N*gga playin’ wit’ my woadie imma ride” on your block soon.
