Hefu’s first release on U.K. label Liquid Ritual, “Cruex,” brings mysticism to the club. Multi-layered countermelodies skim across the track’s reflective surface, pooling serenely mysterious sounds together for an contrasting experience that can be both meditative and hype. About his music, Hefu says, “I’m a 21 year old producer from Norfolk, but currently based in Brighton. I grew up playing in hardcore punk and grindcore bands, but got into producing and DJing electronic music at 16 through raves and free parties. Started off producing grime and 140, and I released an album with Aberdeen’s Ransom FA last year. From my involvement with this scene and London’s Beatgatherers I got to know Guy (LTHL), and he invited me into the Liquid Ritual family.”
