You may have first heard of them from Pitchfork’s 285 Kent mini-doc, but Perfect Pussy shared a great deal of the spotlight in 2013 when they released their 4-track demo, I have lost all desire for feeling. Recorded in the DIY underground of Syracuse, the demo is a 12 minute tension fest filled with some of the most enthusiastically energetic punk this side of the hype machine. The band also retains their accessibility while tearing through walls of fuzzy guitars and cymbal crashes, something that surely caught the eyes and ears of juggernaut Brooklyn label Captured Tracks. Perfect Pussy releases a demo comprised of 4 roman numeral-titled, sub-3 minute tracks and 9 months later they’re signed to one of the most influential independent record labels of this generation.
“Driver” is the band’s first single off of their debut full-length, Say Yes to Love. It’s more structured than we have ever heard from the troupe but still retains that raw and gritty feeling of pureness that brought them so much love. When Say Yes to Love gets unleashed to the world on March 18, we’ll know for sure if Perfect Pussy is the real deal or not. They sure do sound like it.
