Juttin:
I’m sometimes embarrassed to be such a huge Sublime fan, but had they been able to continue, I think they could’ve really done amazing things. This is one of my favorite Sublime songs, featuring the INCREDIBLY young Gwen Stafani. Fun fact: Bradley and Gwen Stafani had an affair that lasted up until Bradley’s untimely death. Pretty crazy.
Imagine the musically inclined children they could have made? R.I.P. Bradley 🙁

This is one of my favorite tracks off the most perfect fall album ever crafted “The Glow, Pt. 2”. Not one autumn since high school has gone by without me listening to these songs.

Ok ok ok ok. Yes, this is Switchfoot. Yes, everyone’s middle school self was listening to atrocious music. I listened to 3 seconds and immediately had to turn it off due to how uncomfortable it made me feel haha but I remember specifically choosing this song EVERY SINGLE morning for about 3 months on my PSP. I had just moved to a new school and had to take a bus to Yorkville Middle School 5 days a week and this song was the only thing that helped calm me through those dark, dark mornings with 50 other 12 year olds. Middle school sucks.
I’ve kind of started realizing these TBTs are a little therapeutic because it makes me relive some memories I have suppressed greatly. I would never bring up Switchfoot now as a band that influenced me, but my 7th grade self sure thought so.
Mama Sims:
“Sometimes I slip
Sometimes I stray away
Stuck in my head
Sometimes I feel there’s no escape
I try to quit
But I can’t stay away
My trouble is this fucking cycle everyday”
KembeX is one of my favorite rappers from Chicago. He consistently tells his story with truth, clarity, feeling and bars. It’s impressive how his meaning is always perfectly clear, while rapped with agility, wit and great skill in both delivery and writing. He dropped “Buried Alive” this week and promises more music is coming soon. In “Psykles,” Kembe raps about big things – trust, hope, conflict and persistence. The song is excellent. Listen to “Psykles” and then the rest of his soundcloud, it’s no wonder he’s “Feeling Like The Man,” KembeX is the man.

This the shit I used to roll down Lewis Street with…
