Alien Gawd is a THRAXX producer I first came to know because of his work with Goth Money Records, hear about him.
Firstly, What is thraxx to you? (What does it mean for you to be a piece of the movement, what do you guys hope to accomplish, what brought you together)
Thraxx is just a big group of musicians and artists, I produced a couple songs for other underground artists before thrax, one day Key Nyata followed me via twitter, I was like oh shit, so I followed him back and DM’d him if he wanted beats, and from there we became cool and he asked me if I wanted to be part of thraxx.
Give us your brief commentary on the state of hip hop these days (drake – love him or hate him, kendrick lamar is he a douche, goth money records what’s up with them)
I don’t listen to mainstream, I fuck with Chicago rappers like Keef, Fredo, Reese, Bibby and Herb. I fuck with Goth Money too, I started listening to them in 2012 I was a fan of Kray and MFK’s music/visuals, In 2013 I started sending them beats, Kray and MFK used most of them, he even DM’d me on twitter asking for more, I was surprised.
What do you as an individual bring to thraxx house that no one else does?
Right now I been busy with work and shit so I been on a small hiatus with the beats, I got alot of unreleased shit though, thinking about dropping it on a beat tape or thraxx compilation. I rap a little too lol, but right now I’m focused on beats.
What sources of inspiration do you draw from for your production work
When I first started making beats 2010 I’d get my inspiration from youtube producers, waka flocka beats, Lex Luger, Kanye West, Lil B’s beats. Back in 2012 I started getting inspired off Spaceghostpurrp’s beats and the Raider Klan and shit.
