Canada is a collective of directors based out of Spain who have worked with bands such as Phoenix and She & Him. Their most recent monster that the’ve decided to collaborate with is arguably the biggest indie rock band in the world right now, the Australian psych-rockers Tame Impala. Growing into the most talked about rock band in the world, Tame Impala have been on the incline since their first self-titled EP which they released in 2008; now they’ve headlined every single major music festival in the world and with the release of their 3rd studio album ‘Currents’ they’ve solidified themselves as one of the greatest bands of the 2000s. Their latest gift comes in music video form for their song “The Less I Know The Better” which wasn’t a single but a stand-out track on the album. Kevin Parker, who played every instrument and mixed Currents, created a psyched out dance groove with a disco lean which is levels above where most bands are sitting and the video that goes along with this track is as well.
The video is an entrancing blend of high school romance and technicolored visuals as a high school cheerleader takes the reigns in a love triangle with one of the schools basketball players and the school mascot, Trevor. I chose not to use the caught “in a love triangle” because this video shows that the woman wants this type of relationship. The basketball player and Trevor both want her attention but she chooses both, separately. You can tell the baller is a little more on the sensitive side (as they usually are) and wants her for himself but she’s not having it. She’s the one calling the shots in this tale.
Watch the video above with you boss while you’re on the clock at work.
