Ok fair, this song can’t even be considered a hip-hop instrumental, let alone any type of rap, but the fact that Fifty Grand’s one of the most alluring members of Bones’ Team Sesh crew gives me reason enough to include “Waltz Of The Hanging Hills” on this list. The only way I can describe this song is by saying it could fit nicely into the OST of any number of fantastical video games, whether it’s “Banjo Kazooie”, “The Legend of Zelda”, or “The Elder Scrolls”. This is the type of indescribable quality that makes Hot Sugar my favorite hip-hop producer of all time, and legendary Nintendo composer Koji Kondo so ripe for sample plundering. If Grand starts tailor-making similarly textured soundscapes for Team Sesh crewmates like Bones and Rozz Dyliams, he could be the secret ingredient that brings their music to the upper echelon of hip-hop.
