Saba continues to impact the world with his beautiful new visual, “Timezone/Whip (areyoudown?).” The gorgeous five minute movie was directed by Caves with assistance from Yakub and Tom Vin. It premiered via Noisey with an interesting interview that gives a lot of insight into the inspiration and creation of this piece. Saba combined “Timezone” and “Whip (areyoudown?),” two standout tracks from his excellent 2014 project, ComfortZone, while the inspiration for the video came from two album covers, Food and Liquor, by fellow Chicago Westside rapper Lupe Fiasco, and Saba’s own ComfortZone.
Saba has had an excellent year, from his national tour, to features with artists including Tink, Chance, Noname Gypsy and more, and the release of his instrumental EP, SpareChange. Don’t miss Saba’s show at the Abbey Pub on Nov. 21 with outstanding Chicago artists Noname Gypsy, Ravyn Lenae, Smino and Monte Booker.
