Dear “Bad Blood” featuring Kendrick Lamar,
Thank you. Thank you for not being another terrible depiction of two tweens falling in love in what looks like Georgia or North Carolina. Thank you for reinventing yourself, Taylor, even though it bothers me when you dance like a “Woo girl” at award shows. I guess I’ve just fallen into the routine of disliking you because I feel obligated too and for that I apologize.
Thank you, Joseph Khan, for this video. The song itself is super catchy and will no doubt be used for a trillion movie trailers and commercials, but the video is the real piece of art here. The concept, two sexy female secret agents turned enemies, is so original I honestly don’t know why no one ever thought of it before. Then, you add that Swift is apart of an army of sexy female secret agents who are each played by the most recognized actresses and models today. Oh, and did I forget to mention her enemy is fucking Selena Gomez? Craziness.
Thank you, Cara Delevingne and Serayah and Jessica Alba and Mariska Hargitay (?????) for being involved in what looks like a video that cost at least $10 million to make. Also, thank you to the see-through/invisible car. I don’t know how the hell they managed to do that. 2015 is crazy.
Thank you, Kendrick Lamar, for doing what you need to do to change music and society. It’s so necessary you make these easily digestible songs for young girls and kids so when they look back at their early music, they see you and investigate your own works which contain some of the best examples of conscious minded hip-hop this world has ever seen. All preach and no entertainment leaves a very bored crowd of church goers.
Last but not least, thank you Big Machine Records for the expert release this video was given. Debuted at the Billboard Music Awards, I’m sure everyone felt a sense of excitement watching all of these beautiful female role models stunt their bad-ass selves over the course of 4 minutes and 4 seconds. And if you tuned into the awards, you really got to experience a game-changing piece of art for the first time that made those Taylor Swift fans feel a personal connection to her (something Swift has basically mastered down to a science).
Oh, “Bad Blood” music video, I am grateful for your existence. Now will you withstand the test of time?
