“A glitch in the system is all it takes”
Dayton, Ohio native, singer/songwriter Leah Jean drops her debut single, “Isn’t That Something,” with her richly textured, soulful voice she laments that she “did it all for you,” and as it sometimes goes with affairs of the heart, that amounted to doing it “for nothing.” While writing the guitar line Leah was inspired by the jazz standard, “How Insensitive,” by Antonio Carlos Jobim. Producer Juan José Peña created a warm and elegant platform for Leah’s stirring voice to dance and simmer with bossa nova nuances and the captivating string melody. Ana De Irisarri contributed with additional mixing of the song. You’ll be hearing more from Leah Jean, who is a recent finalist in Uncommon Ground’s Open Mic competition. Check Leah’s soundcloud for some emotional, sophisticated interpretations of classics like, “Nature Boy,” and Leonard Cohen’s, “Dance Me To The End Of Love.” Leah Jean is a very welcome new presence in Chicago’s vibrant musical culture and I look forward to hearing more from her in the near future.
