Closed Sessions‘ Kweku Collins is back for the third single off his Nat Love album that drops next Friday. “Ego Killed Romance” features label mate Jamila Woods and was produced by Kweku himself. Like most of Kweku’s music, the song has a strong message about the difficulties of adapting to change while maintaining a focus on improving yourself. It’s often baffling the amount of wisdom this 18 year old kid embodies, and even as I sit here listening to the track as I write this, the tracks message touches me in my own personal way. Aside from it’s message, the production on “Ego Killed Romance” is impressive to say the least too. Hard hitting drums help the intergalactic nature of the track stay in orbit while maintaining a larger than life sound.
With Nat Love just around the corner, this might be the last time the name Kweku Collins isn’t a household one. If you’re just jumping on the Kweku bandwagon, you can check him out at Reggie’s here in Chicago on April 15th with a slue of other talented local artists. Oh! And when you buy tickets to the show, you pre-order Nat Love on iTunes! Hard to beat a deal like that.
