“How guilty are your soldiers
We don’t close our arms even when they close their borders”
Kojey Radical impacts again with “Blind Eye.” The London based poet, musician and mixed media visual artist consistently delivers thought provoking lyrics, in this piece addressing borderlines and issues that are often unseen, either because they are given no light or are denied. “Blind Eye” is particularly relevant with the current headlines and politics of division, meanwhile Kojey inspires with words of inclusivity, vision and acts of kindness. Frank Gamble produced and co-wrote the piece. Kojey spoke to i-D who premiered the song and said, “The artists I love and respect are the ones that painted a picture of the times they live in, I think it’s easy to sometimes forget the power and effect of music. The injustices suffered in the world can often make you feel helpless and I’ve always felt I could do more with my artistry. I’m thankful I grew up in such a melting pot of culture because it allowed me to listen and learn and appreciate different perspectives. I wanted to put a sense of compassion in my art and give something for all generations to listen and appreciate. Frank Gamble and I simply invite you all to love, overall.” Kojey is at work on his second project, 23 Winters, due in early 2016.
“Even when their stories don’t make the headlines
I’ll keep the fallen in my mind”
