Jahn Rome debuts “Help?” with us. He says, “I think it’s important to depart from this chip-on-the-shoulder attitude that so many ‘conscious’ artists have. I don’t want to be the person that limits other artists because I think I know what’s best. I’m learning more and more that before anything, I have to show self-awareness and humility.”
Tell me a little bit more about yourself – what should new fans know about Jahn Rome?
Four Things:
I’m here because I want to make real, heartfelt connections through music.
I’m here because I want to help us think critically without becoming cynical.
I’m here because I want to help us have fun.
If you’re curious about something, ask me. I’m around. It’s @jahnrome everywhere 🙂
Any tips to beat writer’s block?
(1) Think a lot or (2) just go experience life.
Taking more time to process and think about what I’m writing can help a lot. Sometimes it’s hard to write just because I haven’t processed my thoughts enough to put into words. On the flip side, you could go experience life and take a break from writing. And as you’re just living life, try to put yourself in a position to almost “narrate” what’s going on. How would you describe what you’re going through? How would you describe what you experience?
What do you hope to accomplish with your art by the end of 2017?
Big things 🙂
There is a lot of music on the way, so I really want to connect with as many people through my music as possible. I don’t just cover one topic in my writing, so I hope I’ll be able to relate to people in a bunch of different ways. Before anything else, I want genuine connection and authentic relationships to be the foundation of everything we have coming.
