If you’re only even minimally engaged with the internet rap scene that’s been taking over for about 4 years now then you’ve definitely heard/seen someone mention Father and his league of internet boys and girls Awful Records. I suggest you follow most of them on Twitter to get a taste of the barred out, Atlanta, sad kids making waves in the underground music scene as we start to transition into a freer sense of what is deemed “rap”. I’m definitely a big fan of these kids and their ability to show you a different side of our generation which is more about feeling goofy and loving friends than trying to change the world through rap. It’s actually refreshing that they’re able to find their way onto bigger platforms instead of being stuck in a certain scene.
Watch the Director’s Cut of Father’s “Everybody In The Club Gettin’ Shot” because the censored version came out on MTV yesterday and was practically worthless to watch. You miss the whole intention and aesthetic of the video when every major detail is blurred out. So I guess, thank you Noisey?
