How do you create meaningful experience in your life?
I suppose the only way to create a meaningful experience is when you do something out of response to something else that was meaningful. That kinda makes meaningful experiences for me difficult to obtain. Things are meaningful to me when they’re visceral, when things are (regrettably) ironic. I suppose I get majority of my meaningful experiences from irony, which is pretty dry in my opinion. I’d like to have the kind of meaningful experiences that are meaningful just because they are, like climbing a mountain or having a kid or some shit like that. My usual experience is like releasing my album and getting a timehop notification on facebook about me posting that I was going to release a previous project on the same date, only a year earlier than a new one. It’s meaningful, only because I did it in spite of a previous failure.
Donald Trump is a tangible example of increased absurdity (aka entropy) in the universe, can you name other examples?
Calling rappers, “soundcloud rappers” or confining any musician to internet based platform as a way to discredit them and their links (awful fucking trait), parking lots at bars, the “Redskins” not having to change their name, putting bacon in salad.
Are you afraid that everything will happen?
I’ve made a ridiculous amount of peace with the universe. I just believe that it’s my purpose to have experiences, good or bad, it has to happen. Fate isn’t clear cut, it just is what it is. I’m gonna feel this shit and I can’t stop it, why hurt myself trying? (unless of course, that’s what I’m supposed to do, which in that case, it has to happen and I’ll do it). My girlfriend Hannah is pagan so she kinda helped me learn to accept the universe as what it is, which is a kind of a converter type of thing. You put in good energy, good energy comes out, maybe not immediate, but it will. I like that as a practice so it makes me okay with everything happening.
How do you make earnest connection in a world of instant gratification?
I think you have to just come to terms with it. The world wants instant gratification, so give in, become more pleasant to everyone. I think the average person unknowingly supports a world of instant gratification, the slightly less average person rejects instant gratification completely, and then there’s the rare few that embrace an entire lifestyle of instant gratification in a healthy way. I think that you can still maintain a fruitful relationship with people in the world of instant gratification when you’re both on the same page. Honestly, you can have a connection with anyone on any terms as long as the terms are mutually agreed upon. Sometimes, I immediately text back, the recipient knows that, it’s understood and our relationship continues just the same. We’re in the age of information being dispersed at the speed of light, I personally cherish the fact that I’m being pumped full of insight and perspective immediately. Maybe I’m just impatient like the rest of the world, but I believe in getting what you need and fulfilling other’s needs, I believe that builds an earnest bond in itself.
What gives you the right?
The fucking pain inflicted upon me by it. My struggle gives me the right
