Australian band Jaala’s new song “Double Dutch” starts off smooth enough, the lead singers vocals are calm and the backing beat reassuring but the song takes a few unexpected turns; after which the singer cleverly bellows “that’s how you trick the mind” here we see that this is more than a song but rather a collection of pieces coming together and being greater than the sum of its parts. The song at times may make you think it is disjointed but really it is a fine exampled of postmodern society and music; Jaala self describes themselves as “experimental bedroom punk”and you can tell. The song is off their upcoming debut “HARD HOLD” which will most likely arrive this summer (or Australia’s winter).
