Since last year on Twitter, I remember seeing “(Prod. DJ Smokey)” on multiple rapper’s releases, namely Raider Klan members like Amber London and Yung Simmie. Aside from numerous production credits and collabs, the Canadian beat monger has an extensive collection of solo tapes on his Bandcamp, as well as up for sale on iTunes. Fans of DJ Smokey know him for his gritty, dark, Memphis underground sound, which pays homage to underground veterans like Evil Pimp, and the late Houston legend DJ Screw.
DJ Smokey’s second installment of EVIL WAYZ isn’t totally limited to screw or early Triple 6-like instrumentals, though. It samples plenty of underground classics along with more current trap bangers, and of course, syrup-laden bass. Heavy ass bass. If you can’t vibe to this, something’s wrong with you. :no_entry_sign: :skull: :dash:
