On Sunday, new Chicago collective Do Better released their first single in a series of songs due to come out every Sunday until further notice. “Don’t Shoot” is a gripping track about the sad reality of police brutality on our city and around the country and displays the artists’ feelings and sorrows concerning the issue beautifully. With production and backup vocals from Teddy Jackson, who recently accompanied Chance The Rapper on SNL, the track also features and incredibly impressive display from DemetrUis, who gives off some heavy early Frank Ocean vibes throughout the songs first two verses. Now, I don’t really use comparisons a lot, and I DEFINITELY don’t use Frank Ocean comparisons like…ever. But this guy really has it. The track also features the lovely Aj Peace as well as Erica Reneé on the hook.
If you dig “Don’t Shoot!” make sure to follow Do Better to peep the rest of the tracks they will be releasing every Sunday.
