I have questioned the meaning of life, more than once, trying to ascertain why Chaz French isn’t at the forefront of a burgeoning DMV music scene. Chaz constantly delivers truth and energy with every single drop. The release of What Ya Say today, via Fader, should help catapult him to the top of anyone’s “who’s next from Washington DC” list. Featuring DC songstress Saba (not to be confused with the Chicago emcee of the same name) adds a beautiful, mood-reflecting hook to a record that features brutal honesty and Chaz’s inner-thoughts about staying true to himself, without questioning his chosen destiny, while trying to make it in the most competitive industry in the world. I am praying to the rap gods that this is the beginning of a full-blown tsunami, but until then enjoy Chaz French’s latest contribution to the world.
