Carl dropped BETA, a surprise release that feels like Christmas magic. It’s 3 tracks in length and “Eve’s Drops” and “The Lonesome Crowded Chest” are all Carl including production. He brought in activist and poet Ethos for “How Many More? (Antonio’s Bloom)” who says “I’ve been going to marches all night long and I feel like my ancestors are there walking with me… How many more gotta be dead? See Martin’s marching not as validation but as brief moments in the long lost war.”
Carl is a very creative, original and lyrical artist and I sense an old soul. His sound and raps are layered, every time I listen I understand more in what he’s saying. He and Ethos are both important voices that sound really good, do listen and let their viewpoint sink in.
It’s a mess, it’s a mess, it’s a mess…
My goal is ima touch down, away from the boat
Me and Supa, super cold
Truth be told, you know nothing John Snow
The Night’s Watch never spotted me amongst prodigies…
For you I bring it home, I couldn’t leave you. I bleed too, maybe I just need a better home to bring you.
-Carl from “The Lonesome Crowded Chest”
