Writing for an online music publication is cool for many reasons, but one of the main traits that really excites me is the fact that I can freely use Wikipedia without a professor telling me that its credibility is bullshit. Billie Black is an artist that I still don’t know much about, but her short Wiki-bio helped fill some holes. I have had her buried deep in my Soundcloud likes for awhile now, and I’m not mad at all that the London songstress decided to let go of a 6 track EP entitled Teach Me. Black described her music to Clash Magazine in 2014 as “subtle, groovy tunes that make people sway”; and while this EP has had me bobbing my head and moving in weird ways it has also brought me to the verge of tears. Her lyrics are powerful and the production is A1. She has set herself up nicely with these first two releases; and, if she keeps bringing this type of product, there is no doubt in my mind that she is destined to become a household name.
