Personality is often looked over in the rap game but could be the most important thing as an upcoming artist. Success may depend on who you are and how you can make others remember you. For KoVu, his stage presence and the wave of energy he gives off is second to none.
KoVu, a Chicago artist, has the “it” factors every artists needs and he puts all those factors on display in his new project Contrast. The mixtape features amazing vocals from Nikki Hayes on the track ‘Treasure’. Hits like “Oh No” featuring A.Barb and “Take Off” with Eko Rellz, dig deep into the listener’s brain. The sounds on the tape could be taking cues from Mick Jenkins’s “Waters” mixtape, though the tape is wildly different as a whole. The project has a sense of hunger but at the same time KoVu delivers every line with confidence in his prowess. It seems the pieces of the puzzle are beginning to fall into place for the young artist.
This new project is a follow up statement for KoVu, he claims his first tape “Phase 7” was his introduction into the music world. “Phase 7 was the welcoming party, telling everyone that I’m here, this is my sound.” After a Midwest tour that took place last month, KoVu said it was a beautiful and indescribable thing to see the way his fan base has grown in comparison with his last tour. For now KoVu is still performing Contrast and waiting for the right time to drop the music he has in store for us.
