“I can be your role model – nah”
Trapo’s latest single “Modelo” just premiered on Complex. The 17 year old artist is from Madison, Wi., and is already getting nationwide attention for his unique, outstanding voice. Last week Trapo was included on the prestigious “20 Under 20: Teenage Rappers You Should Know” by Pigeons and Planes. He’s also got artists talking and his talent has been shouted out recently by several exciting musicians including Chicago’s Supa Bwe and fellow Wisconsin artist, WebsterX.
“Modelo” is the first single from Trapo’s upcoming The Black Beverly Hills EP. He gave Complex some background on “Modelo” and said, “There was a point where I was getting in a lot of trouble and not really taking school or rap seriously. My parents’ love was unconditional, but you could see that their opinion of me was declining. They knew that if I kept it up at that pace, I would live up to nothing. Around my junior year, I started really taking things seriously. This song is about that time in my life. I have younger cousins that looked up to me, and I was like, ‘you shouldn’t.’ I still feel like I’m not fully a good role model, but back then I really wasn’t.” I’m glad he’s feeling focused, his talent is real and he’s being taken very seriously.
