“We don’t see eye to eye
But don’t say that I changed up
Don’t say that you lost me”
Logan is going hard in 2016, he’s making tons of music with his longtime producer Flight. These three new singles form the playlist, #Cages, and prove again their importance in Chicago’s hip hop community. Logan has weathered some storms, you can hear his experience and growth both lyrically and as a rapper with unique flows. “New Me” shows confidence and emotional openness, but he’s still very much who he is and sings, “my vision ain’t altered.”
“Watch out below
Underground king til I crash or blow”
Next up is “On Shorty.” Flight’s beat simmers, Logan is “high as a ferris wheel/high as a parachute,” and with a relaxed approach speaks of beautiful women being bad for his ego and health. He’s got lyrics in this one that made me laugh.
“Chicago I love you but I think we need a break
You done took so many of my homies the shit is crazy
You can’t kill us if we out on tour
Got the city on lock, oh but I need more”
“IWannaGoOnTour” sounds like a stream of consciousness narrative to me, one that those immersed in the Chicago culture will find relatable. I first heard Logan a few years ago via my son who is a longstanding listener, and it’s rewarding to hear his further development. Logan and Flight, who have already attained a high level, don’t rest on their laurels and continue to grow creatively, listen to #Cages and hear for yourself.
