Sherpa – Fujiyama

By Mama Sims @_mamasims · On October 15, 2015

“Just wanna write these lines
Not confined
Feeling freer than I ever been
Pastures looking greener ever since
Pastor preaching sermons with elegance”

Sherpa bring their fresh sound to jazz with “Fujiyama,” and have taken us from Chicago to West Covina and on to Japan. Tom remixed a 1964 David Brubeck piece, from his Jazz Impressions of Japan album and Alexy added the drums. It’s a treat when young artists bring new light to classic material and “Fujiyama” does just that. Alexy is a strong writer & continuously growing as a rapper, he says in the beginning adlib that music keeps him alive and I believe him. It’s also wonderful to see Sherpa create a recording space that welcomes collaboration with many of Chicago’s rising emcees and beat makers, their work as musicians in Chicago will make a mark. Let Sherpa take you to “Fujiyyama.”
