What is the importance of space exploration in our society?
Jaro: Exploration, in general, is so important. People hate on Christopher Columbus, but he literally put America on the map (no disrespect to the Native Americans) for the “modern” world. The world now is suffering from overpopulation, overconsumption, over-pollution, and the looming threat of global warming. We, as a society, are trekking towards our inevitable doom. There is no way to reverse the effects of generations of environmental destruction. The only way to preserve the human race is to progress forward and to find an alternative means of an inhabitable environment…or somehow evolve to exist in an extreme environment (robo-humans..?)
SEER: But really, fuck Chris Columbus- that murderous rapist fuck. Also, I wish we would put more funding into exploring the depths of our own planet (which we know to be teeming with uncharted life) instead of searching the void for familiarity. But you know, space is cool.
Chando: I think our planet is fucked. I take that back. Earth is going to be cool. I think we just fucked it up to the point that we are going to have a hard time surviving on it in the near future. Space exploration is important for our survival as a species. And there’s so much to explore. (Sometimes I think about what fruits are like on other planets.)
What defines consciousness? Do you think other animals can be considered conscious creatures?
Jommis: I think art defines everything.
SEER: The only things I can ever say about another being’s consciousness is from within my own limited conscious. To say an animal has or doesn’t have conscious or to say there’s is greater or less than mine would be foolish.
Jaro: My man, Rene Descartes, put it best when he said “I think, therefore I am.” There is a difference between existing and living. And that difference is consciousness. The human consciousness is a fickle thing. But our abilities to think and empathize with others is a critical aspect of our being. Animals are definitely considered to be conscious creatures. Although, their consciousness is not at an advanced level, such as ours, they do think and feel empathy.
Chando: I read scientist have found evidence that dolphins are conscious of who they are, and because of that they shouldn’t be allowed to be held in zoos and stuff. Dolphins are really smart though. I read that humans might have evolved from dolphins or at least share a common ancestor. So yeah, I think so.
How do you create meaningful experience in your life?
Jaro: I think that every experience in a life is meaningful to some extent or another. It’s a matter of seizing the opportunity and/or learning from the experience. Everything is easier in hindsight. The best way, at least for me, to create the best of an opportunity or experience is to keep my eyes on the larger picture or “end-goal”. Everything has meaning, you’ve just got to find it.
Chando: I create music about how I feel about the things around me and the things I’ve gone thru. I think creating is one of the most meaningful things we can do. We don’t know why we are here and we don’t know where we go when we leave here so let’s create something that will outlast the small time we have on this planet.
Jommis: I am a soft romantic boy who kinda gauges everything by how much SHE loves me.
What is time? What is Macaroni Time?
Jaro: Time is a concept. Time is not linear. Time is all around us. It’s all just theories, but I think that time bends with the universe. The fact that we can literally see into the past, e.g., every star you see in the sky had already died millions of years ago. That’s how light/images travel. I don’t know, I think about this a lot and it kind of gives me anxiety to think that one day, we may be able to manipulate time and space in real time. I had to look up Macaroni Time to realize it was a Chief Keef reference, so fml.
Chando: I’ve heard that time doesn’t exist outside of our planet. I wish I could control time. That would be my super power. Macaroni time > peanut butter jelly time.
SEER: Time is just a blank canvas for music.
Jommis: Bock bock ITS MACARONI TIME!!
Are trends accelerating too fast? Is that a thing?
SEER: Hell no. People have more time for shit like art or good food. Its more integrated into our lives than ever. There’s no need to feel guilty for living in better times than before. We need to keep perpetuating open discussion in art and fashion and shit because it makes us feel better and gives us something to do besides kill each other.
Jaro: What SEER said is so true. However, at the same time, I feel that you shouldn’t get caught up in trends that are popping up left and right. It’s great to see the evolution of art and fashion, but it’s even greater to be yourself and add to the evolution naturally. It’s better to innovate than to imitate.
Chando: I could see how trends are accelerating too fast with all the outlets we have now. And I think that’s good. Change is good.
