After a couple weeks of poverty and a long seven days at SXSW, it was finally time for another installment of Stefan Ponce & Friends, the local producer and DJ’s monthly showing of local and national talent at East Room in Logan Square. If you know of another party that’s more happening than this one, damn! Let me know!
No, in all seriousness, Stefan and his team have an awesome thing going here. In a day when solid nightlife is hard to come by, this hip-hop catered party is a breath of fresh air for a Friday night. Whether it is Smoko Ono spinning oldies for a mostly girl crowd or Logic stopping by after his sold out Riviera show to rap a few songs, you’re sure to see some awesome young talent in the mix. Make sure you get there early, however. Though young, the monthly party is already one of the harder free parties to get into in the city so don’t be pressed if you find yourself waiting in line. Your girl probably should’ve stuck with one of the first 4 outfits she tried on before she was ready to go.
