Music can send you down a trip on memory lane, it’ll make you remember a loved one or a fun time in your life or maybe even that one night with that special someone… you know what i’m talking about. We at 1833 are no different and want to celebrate the past with our weekly segment THROWBACK THURSDAY’S; check below to see what era our contributors are stuck in this week and come back every thursday to find out what songs you forgot you missed.
Zach:
Diamonds on the chain with the V cuts.
Sahar:
Since it was Tupacs birthday earlier this week, I had to throw it back to 1993 to remember his legacy. I went with one of my favorite “Go-To” Tupac songs – “I Get Around”. Pac was a fun and comical character and I feel like this really brings out that side of him.
Mama Sims:
It’s never over, my kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder
It’s never over, all my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against her
It’s never over, all my blood for the sweetness of her laughter
It’s never over, she’s the tear that hangs inside my soul forever
This is a magnificent performance of one of my favorite Jeff Buckley songs. He said “If I wasn’t able to do this, I think I would really lay down and die. Music comes from a very primal, twisted place. When a person sings, their body, their mouth, their eyes, their words, their voice says all these unspeakable things that you really can’t explain but that mean something anyway. People are completely transformed when they sing… At the end of the night I feel strange, because I feel I’ve told everybody all my secrets.” He put everything into this song and I’m forever grateful.
Matt:
Don’t think about it too much, too much, too much, too much.
There’s no need for us to rush this through.
Sometimes you have to sit back and be a spectator to what’s going on with you and around you. Be patient, good things come to those who wait.
Alexy:
“It would be so fine to see your face at my door”
