My first impression of SEB was based almost entirely off the cover of this EP. It made me go in expecting similar sounding music. The stark black and white contrast on the bathroom walls, not to mention the whited out pupils, had me thinking I would get a dark, twisted, possibly even demonic project. To my surprise (but not disappointment) was something completely different. Carefree guitar loops highlight this bright bedroom pop project that you’ll want to play outside in the sun.
In an era that sees Soundcloud music shifting towards rage rap and hyperpop, highlighted by heavy and intricate production, ‘It’s Okay, We’re Dreaming’ relishes in never doing too much. Outside of Soundcloud, it’s a sound that’s earned SEB millions of monthly listeners, dozens of playlist adds, and a signing with Mom+Pop records. In spite of that, with this being his debut EP, he still has that ‘best kept secret’ feeling about him. In fact, his Soundcloud bio reads “shhhh. keep it a secret.” I may not be doing a good job on that, but it’s an EP that’s too good to go unwritten about.
