The time of the year where cuffing season begins to spread its black blanket of sorrow over my entire presence, because I don’t have anyone to cuff, is the time that I most appreciate a happy, upbeat breath of fresh air to remind myself that there’s other things to be happy about (music being the main thing). Full of soul, Chicago artist Rah Rah The Savage brought sunshine in the form of a project with Oh My Goodness. While the message of every song isn’t necessarily all smiley faces and butterflies; it’s Rah‘s incredible soul and passion that you can hear through his singing that brings me that feel-good state of mind that I’m constantly seeking to obtain from music. Through one listen; some of my personal favorites are My Oh My (featuring Rob Knapp) – which serves as the perfect, high-spirited intro that does well in setting the mood for the rest of the project, As of Late (featuring D. Bridge) – an in-depth reflection of a previous endeavor that went sour, and Lakeside – a record full of promise to reacquire a former cuffee. The production and features compliment Rah‘s melodic fervor perfectly, and it’s evident this entire body of work was put together very carefully.
