What can I say about Keiya? The emerging singer/songwriter/producer from Chicago is hardly following in the direction of everyone else. Her incredibly smooth voice over her new-wave style production offers a unique musical sound I haven’t found in many others. That’s why I was so excited to hear she was dropping new music yesterday.
Keiya has full control over “Diamond”, from her glazed vocals to almost weary production. Her lyrics tell a story of dealing with an untruthful lover, as well as coping with her own downfalls. Some lines like “Don’t take it personal, but I can’t entertain your thoughts today” suggest Keiya has far too much on her own mind to deal with her significant others. From the sound of her rather melancholy voice, it’s clear she real about leaving her be.
Keep an eye out for new music from Keiya. I doubt she’ll be going away soon.
