This was actually my first time listening to Joywave even though i’ve heard of them for quite some time now; they’ve made some serious waves in the music industry the last few years including playing lollapalooza in 2014. The group is originally from Rochester, New York and can be categorized as indie rock although they have a self proclaimed Hip Hop attitude. Off the bat you can probably figure out why the song is called “Destruction”, as it comes in rather hard and rebelliously but the thing that really caught my ear was the soft, tender vocals that arose from the smoke of shredded guitars and battered drums, it almost sounds like the calm before a storm.
