22-year old Diamond White is Detroit, MI native who has already stamped herself in a few different lanes at a relatively young age. She voices characters for kids shows on Discovery and Disney, has made cameo appearances in additional Nickelodeon and Disney channel shows as well as a recurring role on Phineas and Ferb. In the second season of The X Factor, White finished fifth in the competition. In 2020 the actress and singer released her debut album, titled “Tomorrow,” and over the past five months, Diamond White has resurfaced.
During the summer the new age pop and r&b singer-songwriter dropped two singles before the release of her 2021 project, “Summerland.” The two singles gave you a look into what the project was potentially going to sound like, but no one could have guessed how broad, electric and vibrant this body of work really is. Diamond blends genres in a really interesting way, incorporating electronic sounds, ambient and digital scapes, and even some elements of trap.
The song that I keep going back to over and over is “Digitally Yours,” one of the two singles White released before the project. This dreamlike and bubbly pop song is extremely catchy, featuring a chorus that will be stuck in your head after one listen. Her control, vocal pitch and range fit the song perfectly, making this track one of the standouts from the project in my opinion.
