Banks The Genius made the “Promise” as a memorial to his mother. It begins with video of his mom before one of his birthday parties. The heartfelt record was produced by OneTwoKno and the visual was captured and edited by JKrown. It’s the first release from his next project The TIDE. It is a well done tribute.
“This is a deeper look into some of the things that have held me back over the past few years. Shortly after starting my pursuit of music I was faced with the unexpected loss of my mother. After that situation I took an extended hiatus because I wasn’t able to give 100% to what I was doing musically… “Promise” sheds insight on some of my personal demons while also showing people that even through darkest times you can always find the light at the end of the tunnel. The track as well as the video is a memorial to the one person who always supported me, had my back and still does to this day. Despite her absence and the situation I faced I was able to overcome and progress. “Promise” is just the beginning of a story that has yet to be told.”
