18 year old artist Roosevelt the Titan is someone to watch. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Titan’s music, his latest single “Oh Gah” provides listeners with an aggressive and vividly personal introduction. His verses allude to his demons until he finally proclaims “Oh Gah (God), You can’t save me.” Sinister in nature, the top-tier production by local producer Glassic led Roosevelt down a path he seems comfortable walking. He opens up to listeners about self-doubt, trust issues, lost friends and more in an outburst against his vulnerabilities.
The intricacies of his emotions and the confusion he feels about them are evident, as Roosevelt frequently contradicts himself. Hints of his environment are riddled throughout the two verses. He raps about missed therapy sessions, very sinful things in church, the West Side and even a Mick Jenkins shout out. “Mick got the ginger but I’m sipping dirty Sprite though.” Rose also remembers his friend Damo Franklin (Dominique) who passed last May. Roosevelt The Titan has more coming soon. He’s been collaborating with “everybody’s uncle” producer Tony Baines. Rose’s last release was a feature on the track “Kingdom Of Chicago” by Hurt Everybody.
“My mama set appointments for the therapist
I ain’t even showing up, I got better shit
Postmortem side effects trying to keep me down
Dominique still lurking telling me to take the crown
God, the last time I woke up was a full moon
Adam ate the apple so the tablets got me full bloom
Rose from the west so the sun still hating
Jesus, Hercules, got Olympus in the making
Oh Gah, Why you take a liking to me
It’s clear I ain’t shit far as my eyes can see”
