Wow. What a weekend it was. On Thursday, I watched my good friend Different Sleep play his last DJ set as a Chicago resident which was both a great bit of fun as well as an extremely fitting farewell. Friday, I got to see my favorite Chicago band, Woo Park, absolutely shut down Double Door. This years 4th of July was probably my favorite ever. Oh, and I got to witness the last Grateful Dead show that will ever happen. All and all, I’d say this weekend was a complete success. I even happened to unearth some sweet music too! So without further adieu…
Show You Suck – Wrong Name In The Deathnote (prod. Professor Fox)
Chicago’s pizza-loving MC dropped some serious flames recently with this track, produced by my old Creative Marketing professor, Zak “Professor Fox” Jablow. The beat is absolutely wild and Show absolutely bodies it. Don’t you know every day’s a pizza party, my g?
Tink – I Like (prod. C-Sick)
Tink might be working hand and hand with Timbaland on her debut album but that doesn’t mean she can’t get on a song with local legend C-Sick. “I Like” is a slow, intimate track that showcases Tink’s rapping and singing abilities. Get ready for her take over. It’s already started so you better start paying attention.
Eyedress – Where My Girl At
This dude Eyedress is honestly murdering everything he puts out, and has been doing so for the last couple years. This track is a little bit more experimental and silly, but I’d highly encourage you to dig deeper in his Soundcloud to find some crazy sounding electronic/RnB from the Philippines.
The HOLY Kit – Ruins ft. The GTW & Khallee (Prod. Supreme Cuts)
So…this song actually premiered on 1833 about a year ago…but I just heard it for the first time this last weekend so I’m throwing it in my list. Shit bangs…can’t deny it. If you’re already heard this before, do the homie a favor and play that shit one time like it’s 2014.
