“Yo it’s a thin line between opinions and bitterness my n****
Choose wisely
Ayo this thirsty shit can be a real deadly thing bruh
Don’t wanna be the next victim of Thirst 48
Message too late?
I think it is”
Compton/Long Beach rapper Boogie’s “Bitter Raps” is from his debut project Thirst 48 which dropped last June 24. Yesterday, a year later, we got his new album The Reach. In “Bitter Raps” Boogie expresses his relatable disdain for the hypocrisy that we witness all over social media and in life, but then looks in the mirror and says “I guess I’m on the same thing, I’m probably on the same thing.” Fact Magazine put Thirst 48 on their best mixtapes of 2014 list and said “It’s not often that a debut effort has a voice, a (non-corny) concept and an approach that goes against the grain, but with Thirst 48, Boogie has pulled it off… Roughly a meditation on the over-eager, attention starved nature of the social media age, Thirst 48 is closer to – using West Coast rap’s recent touchstones – Good Kid than Krazy Life. Thanks to Boogie’s easy-going storytelling and a collection of muted productions that are kissed with neo-soul grace and smoked out sleepiness.” Be sure to give The Reach a listen.

Daddy Yankee is my dad.

With Janet Jackson’s new single “No Sleeep” constantly playing in my house, I had to do a quick revisit to the Jackson’s the other day and rediscovered this joint. One of the cooler videos I’ve ever seen, what amazes me most is how Michael and Janet managed to look identical even AFTER plastic surgery! They must’ve used the same guy. No but really, one of the best songs the two ever made together and with “No Sleeep” sounding as good as it does, I hope Janet makes a come back soon (she could show Nicki and Iggy a thing or twenty).
RIP Michael <3
Matt:
We’re a little over half done with 2015 already and not enough can be said about what has happened in that short amount of time. A lot of politics, NASA doing some stuff and whatnot, the same old song and dance. Though in these tough times we have quite possibly the greatest artist of this generation, Lil B lecturing at UCLA and dropping knowledge bombs inside of the minds of these young college students. I wish I could have been there. But I do know where I was when I first heard Wonton Soup start playing through the speakers. I started cooking so much I almost went to jail for, like, 500 days.

On the lowest of keys I think Kool A.D. may be the greatest rapper ever.
