Now, it might be a month old, but “It G Ma” by Keith Ape has become my new hip-hop Internet wonder to say the least. I mean, it’s not every day you see a Korean dude splashed out in Bape screaming Korean lyrics in your face. But it doesn’t seem like the rest of the Asian hip-hop that makes its way over to the States. No, something about Keith Ape’s music, though he hasn’t put out much in his short career, makes it feel legitimate. Due to distance, a lot of foreign hip-hop that breaks in the States seems a bit behind in comparison to popular songs of American artists. With Keith Ape, there isn’t a sense of corny imitation like I feel with a lot of foreign hip-hop but a sense of honest competition with popular American artists. I’m incredibly interest to watch the growth of Keith Ape and hope we get some new music soon. Check out “Psycho’14” below and if you see this Keith, I’d love to sit down for an interview.
